The Soil Ecology Lab is housed in the Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois’ College of Agriculture, Consumer & Environmental Sciences.

Our interdisciplinary team works with others including farmers, educators and policy makers to promote sustainable crop production, and optimize resource management and environmental quality. We study the effects of management practices on soil function and associated ecosystem services.

Focal areas include factors that influence soil organic matter dynamics, nutrient cycling, plant-soil interactions, and soil food webs.
